In this year’s Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health certification cycle, Florida distinguished itself with the most successful applicants, accounting for 14% of the total certifications awarded. Mental Health America credits this achievement to the dedicated efforts of Tampa Bay Thrives and the Gehring Group.

The Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health certification recognizes employers committed to creating mentally healthy workplaces. Led by Mental Health America’s rich history in research and advocacy, the Bell Seal’s holistic evaluation of employer practices considers the entire employee experience. The certification evaluates organizations on 4 main categories: supportive workplace culture, benefits that support mental health, caring beyond compliance, and holistic wellness at work.

This year, Tampa Bay Thrives spearheaded a working group to guide local organizations through the Bell Seal certification process. This initiative included local organizations such as Champions for Children, Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County (JWB), Polk County Board of County Commissioners, and The Mosaic Company.

Recipients of the Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health are nationally recognized as meeting or exceeding workplace standards that promote positive worker mental health and well-being and join a community of leaders committed to advancing the workplace mental health movement. Tampa Bay Thrives is happy to announce that all members of our inaugural cohort, including TBT, received a Bell Seal Certification at the highest levels: Gold and Platinum.

Notably, only 1 in 4 employers meet the rigorous standards for Bell Seal certification. The collective workforce of Bell Seal recipients encompasses 3 million workers nationwide. Our cohort of six organizations represents over 15,000 employees in the Tampa Bay area.

Tampa Bay Thrives is honored to be a 2024 Gold recipient of Mental Health America’s Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health.
