Tampa Bay Thrives’ 2024 Resident Mental Health Study reveals insights into mental health in Tampa Bay.
Across Tampa Bay, 7 in 10 residents experienced at least 1 poor mental health day during the past month. Tampa Bay Thrives’ recent study found that in 2024 over 50% of residents experienced 3 or more poor mental health days in that same period.
Conducted in partnership with Downs & St. Germain, the 2024 Resident Mental Health Study gathered responses from Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, and Sarasota counties. Key findings include:
- Workplace Impact: 9% of respondents missed work due to mental or emotional conditions, resulting in a staggering loss of 735,761 workdays monthly in the region.
- Family Conversations: 1 in 3 residents are uncomfortable discussing mental health with their children, highlighting the need for greater support and resources.
- Care Gaps: The quality and location of therapists/counselors received the lowest ratings in the mental health care experience.
These findings underscore the importance of continued efforts to improve mental health resources and reduce stigma across Tampa Bay.
