Tampa Bay Thrives is proud to stand with Pat Maroon in response to a body shaming incident during Tuesday night’s game between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Boston Bruins.
According to CBS News, NESN play-by-play announcer Jack Edwards made several comments about Maroon’s body weight. Instead of confronting Edwards, Maroon made a donation to Tampa Bay Thrives.
“In support of those struggling with mental health, bullying and body image, I am making a $2,000 donation in the name of @realjackedwards to @TampaBayThrives,” Maroon tweeted.
Thank you Pat Maroon and the Tampa Bay Lightning for standing up for mental health and against bullying and showing the world that words do matter.
In support of those struggling with mental health, bullying and body image I am making a 2,000 donation in the name of @realjackedwards to @TampaBayThrives and I encourage @TBLightning and @NHL fans to join me. Donate here: https://t.co/ZEbWHw6Cqv
